Vision Therapy: Not Just For Children

Many people think that vision therapy is only for children. However, adults have as much need for this type of vision care as children. That includes amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (eye turn), convergence insufficiency (where both eyes don’t aim properly at close distances), computer vision, sports vision, and vision problems related to brain injury, trauma or stroke. Adults will figure out many ways to compensate for their visual problems to enable them can continue with any strenuous visual work they need to do. Often, resulting in arriving home from work extremely tired due to visual stress from work related tasks such as computer use and paperwork.

Physical Signs

  • Double vision
  • Blurred vision
  • One eye turns or drifts
  • Closes or covers one eye

  • Skipping lines or losing place when reading or copying
  • Reverses/omits letters or words.
  • Writes uphill or downhill, irregular spacing
  • Difficulty with 3D movies & binoculars
  • Difficulty judging distance when driving/parking
  • Confusing right & left directions
